Born November 2, 1911 in Juanacatlan, Jalisco, Mexico. Widely regarded as one of the greatest managers in Mexican boxing history, “Cuyo” was respected for his vast knowledge of the sweet science.

Hernandez guided such Hall of Famers as bantamweight champion Carlos Zarate, strawweight king Ricardo “Finito” Lopez and bantamweight and featherweight champion Ruben “El Puas” Olivares. He also worked with Lupe Pintor, Rafael “Bazooka” Limon, Baby Casanova, Alfonso Zamora, Rodolfo Martinez, Gabriel Bernal, Ricardo Arredondo and Hall of Famer Alexis Arguello at various stages of their careers. In total, he worked with 12 world champions and 37 Mexican national champions. Hernandez’ skill as a trainer was also highly respected.

Hernandez died on November 20, 1990 at the age of 79.
