A native of Brooklyn, New York, Bromberg began his career in journalism at the Brooklyn Daily Eagle. Bromberg was boxing reporter for the New York World -Telegram, 1931-1966 and New York Post, 1966-1978.

A versatile sports writer, Bromberg was extremely popular and contributed stories to Sport magazine, Saturday Evening Post and Saga. Noted for his thorough coverage of the sport, as well as his "Boxing's Tintypes" and "Strictly Personal" columns, Bromberg also authored books on boxing, including "Boxing's Unforgettable Fights" in 1962. He died on February 21, 1989.
