CANASTOTA, NY - APRIL 22, 2015 - On April 18th top super lightweights Lucas “The Machine” Matthysse and “The Siberian Rocky” Ruslan Provodnikov met in a 12-round thriller televised live on HBO. Following 36 minutes of courageous battle, both warriors donated their robe and trunks to the Hall of Fame.

“The Hall of Fame’s mission is to honor and preserve boxing history,” said Hall director Ed Brophy. “We are thrilled that two of today’s most exciting fighters are helping us achieve this by donating the fight worn outfits from what many are already calling a leading contender for ‘Fight of the Year.’”

“The Hall wishes to thank both fighters for their generosity, as well as their promoters, Oscar De La Hoya and Eric Gomez of Golden Boy Promotions and Artie Pelullo of Banner Promotions, in recognizing that today’s action is tomorrow’s history,” said Brophy.

In a spirited battle that repeatedly brought fans to their feet in appreciation of the heart and skill on display, Matthysse won a majority decision (114-114, 115-113, 115-113) to up his record to 37-3 (34 KOs). Provodnikov’s record stands at 24-3 (17 KOs).
