Female boxing legend Christy "The Coal Miner's Daughter" Martin threw out the ceremonial first pitch at the Syracuse Chiefs home game against the Durham Bulls on August 24th at Alliance Bank Stadium in Syracuse. The Chiefs are the Triple-A affiliate of the Washington Nationals.
Martin, who will fight for the vacant WBC junior middleweight title on September 2nd at the New York State Fair, threw a perfect strike to the delight of Chiefs fans. Following the pitch, Martin signed autographs and posed for pictures with fans and was interviewed on the radio by Jason Benetti, the Chiefs play-by-play announcer.
