HALL OF FAME FLIES FLAGS AT HALF-STAFF  
FOR PROMOTER MOGENS PALLE

CANASTOTA, NY –AUGUST 30, 2022 - The International Boxing Hall of Fame announced its flags will fly at half-staff in memory of promoter Mogens Palle, who passed away on August 27 after battling cancer. He was 88. 
























  “Mogens Palle kept boxing alive in Denmark, Norway and Sweden for over half a century and promoted dozens of European and world champions,” said Hall of Fame Executive Director Edward Brophy. “His influence was immense and he left an indelible mark on the sport. The Hall of Fame offers our condolences to the Palle family and joins the boxing community in mourning his passing.”

    Born in Denmark in 1934, he promoted his first bout in 1957 at the age of 23. Palle made Demark a force in the sport by promoting for over 60 years and producing 27 European champions and 8 world champions including Mikkel Kessler, Ayub Kalule and Johnny Bredahl. Among legendary Hall of Famers he promoted during his career include Mike Tyson, Larry Holmes, Sonny Liston, Carlos Monzon, Emile Griffith and Ken Buchanan. His last promotion was held on April 21, 2022 in Copenhagen and his fighter, Sarah Mahfoud, won the IBF featherweight title. 

    In 2008, Palle was elected into the International Boxing Hall of Fame.
